GE Healthcare and DePuy Synthes Unite to Deliver Advanced 3D Imaging
A Leap Forward in Spinal Surgery: Precision Imaging Meets Surgical Expertise
In a significant stride forward for spinal healthcare, GE Healthcare has announced a distribution agreement with DePuy Synthes, the Orthopaedics Company of Johnson & Johnson. This collaboration aims to bring GE Healthcare’s OEC 3D Imaging System and DePuy Synthes’ comprehensive product portfolio to a broader range of surgeons and patients across the United States.
The spine, a complex structure comprising muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, and sensitive nerves, plays a crucial role in the human body. Any injuries or deformities affecting the spine can significantly restrict mobility and reduce the quality of life. Therefore, accurate visualisation and imaging are vital for precise diagnosis and effective treatment.
The OEC 3D Imaging System from GE Healthcare is designed to enhance surgical imaging precision and efficiency, particularly in surgical suites where spine procedures are performed daily. This mobile CBCT imaging solution enables intraoperative 3D volumes and 2D high-definition imaging, covering a large anatomical field of view. It provides precise 3D volumetric images, familiar OEC 2D imaging capabilities, and features for image analysis, noise reduction, interoperative review, and seamless workflow.
As the demand for minimally invasive surgical procedures continues to rise, with ambulatory surgery centres performing more than half of all outpatient procedures in the United States, efficient imaging capabilities are increasingly needed. This new agreement will enable both GE Healthcare and DePuy Synthes to better serve surgeons and address the complex needs of their patients, catering to a wide range of procedural needs in the spine.
President & CEO of GE Healthcare’s Image-Guided Therapies business, Phil Rackliffe expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating that the OEC 3D is a game-changer for clinicians. Its large field of view, open platform, and high-quality reconstructed 3D images allow surgeons to remain focused on providing quality patient care.
GE Healthcare, a leading global medical technology, pharmaceutical diagnostics, and digital solutions innovator, is dedicated to providing integrated solutions, services, and data analytics to make hospitals more efficient, clinicians more effective, therapies more precise, and patients healthier and happier. With this collaboration, they continue to advance personalised, connected, and compassionate care, simplifying the patient’s journey across the care pathway.
